The Research Assistant will support the GRACE Consortium, a multi-state research collaborative focused on rural maternity care in the United States. The Consortium spans seven states (Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Colorado, Georgia, West Virginia, and Nebraska) and is currently conducting three complementary studies on elective induction of labor (eIOL39):

1. A national analysis of eIOL39 in rural areas using Medicaid claims data.
2. An implementation science study using qualitative methods to explore the use of eIOL39.
3. A pragmatic trial using a stepped-wedge cluster randomized design to evaluate a shared decision-making tool on elective induction of labor.

The successful candidate will contribute across the full research lifecycle for both studies, from data collection and management through analysis, visualization, and manuscript preparation, working closely with the Principal Investigator and broader multi-site research team. This role is ideal for a graduate student seeking to deepen mixed-methods research skills in a maternal health, implementation science, and clinical trials in the US context, while building a strong publication record

1. Develops and refines codebooks for qualitative data (interviews, focus groups)
2. Conducts qualitative coding using Dedoose
3. Assists with thematic and framework analysis of stakeholder perspectives on elective induction practices
4. Assists with thematic and framework analysis of feedback on a shared decision-making tool
5. Supports participatory data interpretation across study teams
6. Creates clear, publication-quality charts, graphs, and tables to communicate findings
7. Assists with data collection procedures for the stepped-wedge cluster randomized trial
8. Manages and cleans quantitative datasets, ensuring data integrity and proper documentation
9. Performs statistical analyses appropriate to stepped-wedge and clustered designs
10. Maintains organized, reproducible data management practices (data dictionaries, version control, secure storage) suitable for a multi-site trial
11. Creates clear, publication-quality charts, graphs, and tables to communicate findings, including stepped-wedge design/rollout visualizations
12. Assists in drafting manuscript sections (methods, results, literature review)
13. Leads manuscript development as interested/appropriate
14. Helps prepare figures, tables, and supplementary materials for submission
15. Supports development of visual summaries for presentations, manuscripts, and Consortium partner updates
16. Assists with responding to reviewer feedback and revision processes
17. Supports preparation of conference abstracts and presentations
18. Presents posters and give talks as interested/appropriate
19. Maintains organized project files and documentation
20. Attends and contributes to research team meetings
21. Supports IRB/ethics documentation and compliance as needed
22. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
