Assumes responsibility for the routine maintenance of the Pharmaceutical Waste Collection Program and provides support for additional hazardous waste collection activities.
Responsibilities
Provides daily support for the Hazardous Waste Collection and Control Program with special emphasis on the Pharmaceutical Waste Collection Program, which includes; inspection, collection, and replacement of waste pharmaceutical collection containers.
Supports Hazardous Waste collection activities at offsite locations.
Communicates inspection deficiencies and programmatic issues related to hazardous and pharmaceutical waste for corrective action.
Assists in staff education regarding proper characterization, segregation, and disposal of hazardous and pharmaceutical waste.
Assists with The Joint Commission Environment of Care, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) applicable regulations, standards and policies.
Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Associates degree in Environmental Health, Chemistry, Toxicology, Biology, or related field required or equivalent work experience.
Background in health care and knowledge of hazardous substance evaluation and control and hazardous waste management is highly desirable.
Demonstrates knowledge of computer software applications including spreadsheets.
Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Transportation regulations is desirable.
