Supervises employees engaged in maintaining a clean, orderly and safe hospital environment.
Responsibilities
Directly supervises assigned staff. Assists the Manager in scheduling of employees. Keeps daily attendance records of employees supervised.
Makes daily quality control inspections to ensure work performed meets department standards.
Identifies systemic quality assurance issues that need to be addressed through training programs.
Participates in Environment of Care (EOC) surveys.
Interviews, selects/terminates, evaluates, trains, and counsels employees. Acts as first step in grievance procedure.
Assists in the development and implementation of in-service training classes for department staff. Orients new employees to the facility, their duties and responsibilities.
Checks curtains, drapes, furniture, etc. for cleaning, repair or replacement. Cleans items, fills out work orders or assigns tasks to appropriate employees.
Maintains EVS equipment. Trains employees in proper use, care and cleaning. Informs Manager of equipment needs or problems.
Ensures employees have adequate supplies and that they are being used correctly.
Covers areas unassigned due to absenteeism or assist in special cleaning projects.
Responsible for the department in the absence of the Manager on weekend and holidays.
Keeps abreast of changes and technical developments in the Environmental Services field.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
High school graduate with 2 years of technical expertise in Housekeeping techniques required.
