Overview

Under the general direction of the Pharmacy Manager or Preceptor Pharmacist, works to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical services as defined by the laws of the NH Board of Pharmacy for Pharmacist Interns. Maintains a positive relationship with physicians, patients and all other health care providers and staff.

 

 

Responsibilities

  1. Works with the pharmacy team to provide high quality patient care.
  2. Represents the department in a positive manner
  3. Cultivates a patient oriented service. Leads by example through modeling of professional behavior.
  4. Ensures patient satisfaction by addressing patient questions and concerns effectively.
  5. Provides drug counseling as needed to patients.
  6. Assists in drug distribution and data entry.
  7. Anticipates and solves patient problems as they arise.
  8. Acts as a resource to other staff members and provides input to the pharmacy managers when needed.
  9. Answers Phones and triages customer service issues.
  10. Communicates supply issues, problems or discrepancies appropriately.
  11. Assists in revising policy and procedure.
  12. Pharmacy Intern- Inpatient Pharmacy
  13. Stocks and replenishes stock locations and automated dispensing machines (ADMs) and/or robots.
  14. May assist with orienting and training pharmacy department staff.
  15. Prepares intravenous admixtures or other sterile drug products (including investigational and hazardous medications) in accordance with USP chapters <797> and <800> under supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.
  16. Prepares or compounds non-sterile drug products (including investigational and hazardous medications) in accordance with USP chapters <795> and <800> under supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.
  17. Follows investigational protocols in the preparation of study medications, maintains records of preparation, stability, and dispenses as required.
  18. Maintains the hardware and software of the department's multiple computer systems.
  19. Assists with workflow management particularly related to medication management, distribution, and compliance.
  20. Performs other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications

  • Pharm D candidate.
  • Ability to multi-task, detail oriented.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills.

Required Licensure/Certifications

  • Registered with the NH Board of Pharmacy as a Registered Pharmacy Intern.
