Overview

Hematology/Oncology Infusion Clinic

40 hours per week

 

Responsible for overall day to day clinical operations of outpatient care at the DCC. Serves as a supervisor, clinical resource, role model, and extension of management to support staff and uphold institutional priorities, policies and practices.

Responsibilities

  1. Collaborates and assists with clinic operations by functioning as the first line supervisor to staff. Acts as resource to staff to provide direct assistance or connect with appropriate resources.
  2. Models, monitors and enforces compliance with organizational and oncology based policies and procedures.
  3. Participates in performance management of staff members to include coaching, preparation of performance evaluations, and the performance management process. Takes and/or recommends disciplinary action if/when staff practices are incongruent with the performance standards.
  4. Addresses conflicts as they may arise. Assists/mediates to maintain smooth operations of the unit.
  5. Works with the staff to facilitate patient flow and to optimize clinical capacity. Determines when and how to flex staff schedules to provide clinic coverage.
  6. Plans and organizes assignments that foster smooth operations of the clinics and safe patient care. Reassesses assignments daily throughout the work week for appropriateness of level of care and acuity.
  7. Responds to staff and patient/family needs.
  8. Participates in institutional and NCCC Quality and Patient Safety improvement initiatives, committees and projects.
  9. Performs all the duties of an oncology nurse by functioning as an expert clinician providing direct patient care to oncology patients.
  10. Develops, plans, coordinates and implements, supervises and evaluates oncology nursing orientation. Collaborates with the management team to assess and evaluate the clinical competence of nursing staff.
  11. Maintains nursing best practices.
  12. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program required.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) with 2 years of experience required.
  • Clinical experience and demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Certification in a specialty preferred.

Required Licensure/Certifications

  • Licensed Registered Nurse with New Hampshire eligibilty.
  • Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate (CHIC) within 30 days of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate required.
