Overview

Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm. 

 

The Career Development Specialist uses project management and people development skills to lead the delivery of a portfolio of training, student, career exploration and employment programs to help grow and meet the workforce needs of Dartmouth Health (DH). Specialists work in a fast-paced environment that requires creativity, flexibility, initiative, adaptability, attention to detail, collaboration and communication skills. Specialists are responsible for the coordination, delivery and expansion of training and/or experiential work and learning programs for students through the DH Center for Career Development, including its Department of Education licensed career school. . This includes department outreach, program planning, developing and tracking project plans, marketing and promotion, candidate or student recruitment, hiring, onboarding and monitoring. A Specialist is responsible for recordkeeping in accordance with the Department of Labor, Department of Education or other partners, monitoring competency reporting; teaching professional development sessions and regularly meeting one-on-one with program participants to monitor progress and provide coaching. The Workforce Development department’s team mission is to develop a sustainable qualified and engaged workforce who can bring the skills, commitment and values that Dartmouth Health needs to provide the best patient care. The ability to research, share findings, make recommendations and quickly incorporate feedback and input is considered an essential quality of each team member.

Responsibilities

  1. Manages all aspects of program planning and delivery including schedule development, partner engagement, stakeholder management, communications, project management, program marketing, candidate recruitment and placement/selection, program enrollment, onboarding and orientation, licensing/credentialing, reporting and compliance for a portfolio of DH Center for Career Development (CCD) programs.
  2. Meets reporting and record keeping requirements outlined by educational partners, the New Hampshire Department of Education, accrediting bodies and Department of Labor Standards of Apprenticeship where applicable.
  3. Collaborates with internal and external program education partners and team Consultants and Coordinators to plan and deliver CCD programs.
  4. Develops and maintains partnerships with community organizations and regional high school, college and trade schools to build pipelines into the DH workforce.
  5. Implements recruitment strategies designed to develop pipelines into DH student, training and employment programs.
  6. Participates in team committees, special projects, events and new program design/development and/or new initiatives. Responsible for planning, promoting and staffing recruitment and career exploration events.
  7. Provides support and guidance to candidates, and students or trainees enrolled in CCD programs. Acts as subject matter expert on training, licensing and credentialing.
  8. Responsible for supporting safety and quality of work for CCD program participants, and communicating with operational partners to ensure that work remains within the scope of assigned accesses or privileges.
  9. Responsible for the supervision of program participants for onboarding, orientation, electronic time system tracking and approval, management of payroll processing in accordance with DH policy, and performance management for applicable programs.
  10. Monitors the progress of programs and participants. Addresses any participant issues that arise during programs using performance improvement coaching or corrective action as appropriate. Identifies risks to program delivery, develops mitigation plans and escalates issues or problems when needed.
  11. Leads the delivery of professional development curriculum for applicable programs
  12. Integrates and adopts curriculum, program and technology best practices into program portfolio.
  13. Evaluates the effectiveness of programs and works with WFD leadership to ensure program quality, responsiveness to organizational workforce needs, compliance with accrediting agencies and adherence to DH policies.
  14. Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience in a related field such as training delivery, healthcare administration or operations, human resources or project management or equivalent in education and experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving experience.
  • Demonstrated capacity for self-directed performance.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, decision-making, and leadership skills, with the ability to work independently and to collaborate effectively with a team.
  • Ability to relate effectively and support diverse groups of program participants and professional learners
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required. Familiarity with educational and project management software preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Independent critical thinking and judgment skills
  • Customer-first philosophy and approach to handling/resolving issues
  • Familiarity with budgets and ROI reporting preferred.
