Overview

To teach Special Education and provide educational instruction and oversight to children and adolescents at the Hampstead Hospital Residential Treatment Facility (HHRTF) in accordance with established education plans.

Responsibilities

  1. Establishes educational treatment priorities and educational goals in accordance with patient needs. Evaluates and maintains measurable academic and behavioral records on each student and reports progress of students by written and oral communication to clinicians, unit staff and faculty.
  2. Oversees educational objective and lesson plans, to include a core academic (English language arts and mathematics) curriculum, for the achievement of educational service goals.
  3. Assists in the training of staff to effectively implement educational programming.
  4. Serves as a liaison with referral sources, school personnel and families. Attends staff and professional meetings, as required.Participates in Discharge Planning, as required, and establishes and communicates Continuing Care Planning needs to school districts.
  5. Implements and monitors teaching plans to ensure effectiveness in accordance with patient needs.
  6. Performs medical record documentation in accordance with all Joint Commission and Medicare standards, as applicable.
  7. Demonstrates in-depth and current knowledge and teaches the subject matter, in which certified, consults with advisory professionals and maintains current certification status by successfully completing staff development training in order to present a relevant curriculum to all students.
  8. Promotes the hospital culture of patient safety in a non-punitive atmosphere; reports medical errors and significant events; participates in hospital safety training programs and Performance Improvement activities.

Qualifications




  • Master's degree from a recognized college or university, with a major study in education or in the field in which the subject matter is being taught.


  • Experience as a certified educator may include employment as a teacher, specialist, or administrator, per NH State Law and Administrative Rules.


Required Licensure/Certifications




  • Must be appropriately certified, or eligible for certification through a statement of eligibility, by the NH Department of Education, Bureau of Credentialing in specific subject area or field of specialization. Subject area(s) or field of specialization are denoted as endorsement(s).
