Dartmouth Health is seeking a leading health care attorney to serve as the system’s next Deputy General Counsel. This key leader will provide legal guidance to senior leadership and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations across the system.

About the job:

 

Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, Dartmouth Health’s Deputy General Counsel oversees all legal matters affecting Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and Clinics, including corporate governance, regulatory compliance, contracts, litigation, and intellectual property.  The role works alongside other departments to mitigate risk, develop policies and procedures, and stay on top of changing laws and regulations that affect the health system.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Day-to-day management of legal staff and outside counsel
  • Oversight of corporate governance matters to ensure adherence to legal and ethical standards
  • The drafting, review, and negotiation of contracts and other legal documents
  • Assistance in managing litigation and dispute resolution alongside the system’s insurance company
  • Oversight of intellectual property management, including trademarks, patents, and licensing

Minimum qualifications:

Qualified candidates must hold a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and have prior experience as a health care attorney in a hospital setting. A minimum of 7 years of experience is required along with strong legal writing and communication skills.

 

Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance to Dartmouth Health’s headquarters in Lebanon, NH.
