Overview

ECMO Respiratory Therapists receive a $7500.00 sign on bonus.  We also help out with relocation. 

 

DH has Respiratory Therapist openings on the day and night shifts. Every other weekend and alternate holidays.

DH Respiratory Therapists work in Adult Critical Care, Neonatal and Pediatric critical care, neonatal transport and ECMO.

Performs all duties of staff registered respiratory therapist and functions as an expert practitioner in adult respiratory critical care. Responsible for all aspects of monitoring, care, and troubleshooting the ECMO circuit and Maquet Cardio help system. Collaborates with the ECMO team to coordinate care for complex patient population.

Responsibilities

  1. Performs all duties of a registered respiratory therapist.
  2. Manages ECMO therapy during regularly scheduled shifts.
  3. Primes ECMO circuits and facilitates initiation of therapy. Maintains and adjusts ECMO settings as determined by the ECMO care team.
  4. Performs patient assessment and monitors the ECMO circuit to anticipate and prevent potential problems.
  5. In collaboration with nursing, monitors and manages fluids according to ECMO protocol.
  6. Ensures ECMO competencies are current and up to date. Participates in mandatory training and competency assessments.
  7. Adjusts schedule in order to provide ECMO coverage during live ECMO patient runs.
  8. Communicates information to appropriate members of health care team.
  9. Develops education and training programs and conducts in-service training for departmental and non-departmental staff.
  10. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with minimum 1-2 years critical care experience in academic or tertiary care facility.

Required Licensure/Certifications

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Current New Hampshire license as Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP)
  • Successful completion of hospital based ECMO Specialist training and certification.
  • ACLS upon hire.
  • PALS and NRP required for pediatric care.
