Overview

Program Manager - Nursing Policy & Compliance

30 hours per week

 

Responsible for the development and maintenance of nursing policy, procedure, and clinical compliance activities; oversees creation of new documents; monitors department nurses in their use of the policy management system, collaborates with central policy management office to ensure standardization of documents. Acts as a resource to document owners and stakeholders. Collaborates with Quality Assurance and Safety to implement practice changes related to regulatory compliance. Acts as a resource regarding nursing scope of practice.

Responsibilities

  1. Coordinates management of nursing policies and procedures within the policy management system for DHMC
  2. Collaborates with Quality Assurance and Safety to manage ongoing nursing regulatory readiness efforts for DHMC
  3. Collaborates with nursing leaders and regulatory bodies to implement regulatory changes and monitor compliance
  4. Communicates with NH and VT state boards of nursing regarding scope of practice questions, concerns, and reports
  5. Collaborates with nursing leadership and human resources to standardize and update nursing job descriptions
  6. Monitors and evaluates performance of the nursing policy and compliance program and establishes goals and improvements of the policy and compliance program.
  7. Identifies opportunities and strives for innovative strategies to improve patient care related to regulatory standards
  8. Collaborates with practice and education experts to develop education plans related to nursing policy and standards
  9. Implements and evaluates approved goals and objectives, standards of care and practice, policies, and procedures in collaboration with nursing leadership and practice experts.
  10. Creates monitoring program to ensure documents within the policy management system are current and reflect best practice.
  11. Educates clinical and operational leadership on best practices related to policy management and regulatory readiness within nursing
  12. Serves as liaison to system hospitals and clinics when developing and reviewing documents within the policy library
  13. Performs other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program required.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) with 5 years of experience.
  • Effective interpersonal/communication skills required.
  • Self-starter with initiative.
  • Proficient with computer applications, including data entry software, word processors, and reporting platforms.
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks at once required.

Required Licensure/Certifications

  • Licensed Registered Nurse in New Hampshire and Vermont required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate required.
