The Genomic Technologist I on the Lab-CGAT Research team is responsible for performing all workflows done in the DH Institutional Biorepository and Office of Research Operations (ORO) Lab, with the potential to become involved in assays done in Clinical Genomics and Advanced Technology labs, including Molecular Pathology and Cytogenetics, with accuracy and efficiency.

 

If not already obtained, the successful candidate for this position must obtain their ASCP (QBRS) Certification within the first two years of employment.

 

This position is based at our Lebanon, NH campus, and will require coverage at our Manchester, NH location on Mondays and other weekdays as needed.  Mileage will be reimbursed for travel to the Manchester Clinic.

 

This is a full-time, 40-hour/week day-shift position working Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.  Weekend coverage may be required if needed.

We are offering a $8000 sign-on/retention bonus for this position.  *The bonus is available for external hires only, and certain conditions apply.

Responsibilities

  1. For Biorepository/ORO Lab: performs specimen processing for a variety of clinical trial and research studies, prepares shipments and stores biospecimens. 
  2. For Molecular Pathology: can perform a variety of genomics testing including but not limited to nucleic acid isolation, PCR (end point, real-time, droplet digital), chromosome microarray, molecular infectious disease testing, Sanger sequencing, Next Generation Sequencing, RFLP, and familiarity with molecular automated platforms
  3. For Cytogenetics: can perform a variety of genomics testing including but not limited to cell culture, cell harvest, karyotype analysis, Fluorescence in situ Hybridization (FISH), and chromosome microarray (CMA).
  4. Completes training on new clinical assays, if no experience upon hire, within the first year of employment at the discretion of the lab supervisor and director.
  5. Analyzes and reports data generated from clinical genomics technologies and assays such as but not limited to targeted panels, PCR and FISH.
  6. Communicates results in oral and written fashion as presentations at national meetings, local seminars and published abstracts and manuscripts.
  7. Writes and reviews all bioinformatics and other lab-specific SOPs as designated by the laboratory director.
  8. Develops and maintains standard operating procedures and documentation for required activities.
  9. Responsible for analysis of Clinical testing proficiency samples to be reported to regulatory agencies (i.e., CAP Surveys for sequencing and IBBL for Biorepository).
  10. Performs all other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in genomic related science, with a strong academic record and one year of experience in clinical genomics or a related field preferred or the equivalent in education and experience required.
  • Moderate proficiency in Microsoft EXCEL, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication.

Required Licensure/Certifications

  • ASCP (MB) required within first 2 years of employment in Molecular Pathology
  • ASCP (CG) required within first 2 years of employment in Cytogenetics
  • ASCP (QBRS) Certified Biorepository Science required within first 2 years of employment in Biorepository
