SVHC, a member of Dartmouth Health, is a not-for-profit corporation and parent company of Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC which includes a 99-bed community care hospital, ownership in two long term care facilities, 25 primary care and specialty care practices, the Dartmouth Cancer Center and the SVHC Foundation. SVHC’s total annual revenues are approximately $225 million. Reporting jointly to the President and CEO of Dartmouth Health and to the SVHC Board of Trustees, the CEO of Southwestern Vermont Health Care is responsible for directing the organization in accordance with its mission, vision, and values and will serve as an ex-officio member of the Board.
Founded in 1910, Southwestern Vermont Medical Center is recognized as a preeminent, rural integrated health care system that provides exceptional, convenient, safe, and affordable care. About the job:
In addition to day-to-day operations at SVHC, the CEO is responsible for promoting an environment of collaboration and building a culture of exceptional service. The CEO establishes current and long-range objectives; provides leadership across diverse organizational operations and strategic initiatives including those focused on creating a culture of patient safety and ensuring high quality care and service; advances initiatives to improve population health; ensures regulatory and legal compliance for the organization and effective financial stewardship, people management, board governance, development, physician relations, system member relations and community relations; and provides direction to ensure successful implementation of major initiatives.
As an ex-officio member of the SVHC Foundation, the CEO will be expected to work closely with the SVHC Development team. As part of its “Vision 2020: A Decade of Transformation” capital campaign, the SVHC Foundation has raised approximately $30 million in donations for the recently completed, state-of-the-art SVMC Emergency Department facilities, a new Cardiac CAT scan, and a planned Cancer Center expansion.
Minimum qualifications:
Qualified candidates will have obtained doctorate-level education or hold a master’s degree in health administration, public health, or a related field. They may possess a physician or other clinician credential and associated license to practice, but this is not required.
Candidates must possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in executive-level healthcare leadership. Experience in a non-profit organization and within a complex health system with both ambulatory and acute functions is valuable.
