Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with experience in both OR clinical processes/operations and NSQIP registry abstraction to join DHH System Quality and the Vice Chair, Surgical Services Quality in the vital work of clinical data review and analysis as well as direct participation in implementing improvement within Surgical Services.
The role has a dual reporting responsibility to the Sr Director, Value Institute and the Vice Chair, Surgical Services Quality.
The role serves as an internal consultant and partner for clinical service line quality leadership, providing data abstraction and reporting, registry management, planning and leading improvement activities, and supporting implementation of quality improvements.
Acts as an internal consultant to further value through quality assurance and innovation of systems and processes. A background leading and working within improvement teams is strongly preferred; Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification is required within the first 12 months of hire. NSQIP abstracting and registry management experience (SCR) is also strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  1. Assists in the maintenance of structures and processes which support improvement and patient safety, enable the collection, storage, and analysis of improvement and safety data, and enable compliance with external regulatory agency requirements.
  2. Uses clinical knowledge in formal and informal consultation with individual staff, clinicians and managers, to address clinical quality and safety concerns.
  3. Participates in clinical adverse event task groups.
  4. Participates in the development of strategies to perform in-depth data collection and data & process analyses to identify opportunities for improvement and provide input into institutional decision making and goal setting.
  5. Supports value improvement and patient safety across the Dartmouth-Hitchcock (D-H) system through the application of modern improvement thinking to all assigned initiatives.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with 4 years of clinical practice experience required.
  • Master’s degree in a business or healthcare-related field with prior health systems experience preferred.
  • Certification in modern improvement methodology (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.) and/or Professional Project Management and/or Healthcare Quality preferred.
  • Prior experience applying modern improvement methodology to lead and manage change preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellence in facilitation, teaching, and interpersonal skills as well as experience in the concepts and applications of continuous improvement are essential.

Required Licensure/Certifications

  • Licensed Registered Nurse with NH eligibility
