Trains to become an Echo Cardiology Technologist. Learns to perform basic adult cardiac echocardiogram procedure to include 2-D, M-Mode, Doppler and 3-D LVEF Echocardiograms.
Responsibilities
Learns to perform all basic adult cardiac echocardiogram procedures. Learns to distinguish between normal and abnormal cardiac findings.
Learns to perform cardiac sonographer duties to meet departmental needs including recognizing arrhythmias and implications of specific cardiac and related diagnoses to obtain optimal studies.
Learn to perform adult echoes on-call.
Complete all course requirements and clinical rotations for the designated Adult Cardiac Ultrasound program. Maintain passing grades in all program courses including clinical competency evaluations.
Participates in exercise stress pharmacologic stress echo training,
Participates in weekly imaging conference presentation.
Learns to facilitate patient flow within the section and maintains a pro-active approach in dealing with patient concerns.
Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
Learns to identify and document equipment failures.
Demonstrates professional behavior and comfort in a hospital setting.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
2-year Allied Health degree or Bachelor’s degree with completion of Human Anatomy & Physiology and Medical Terminology
One year of employment at DH-H or 6 month with supervisor approval
Prior patient facing care is preferred.
Required Licensure/Certifications
At the end of the training period, take and pass the Adult Echocardiography exam through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
