This spring, we have a number of internship projects to offer undergraduate and masters-level students in Public Health or related fields. Please read each description carefully and let us know which opportunity you are most interested in through your cover letter.

Emergent Public Health/Population Health Internship

Dartmouth-Hitchcock’s Population Health team engages in a wide range of health care and community/public health projects on an ongoing basis.  We have significant ongoing projects associated with in food insecurity; maternal/perinatal health; a spectrum of substance use and mental health related projects from prevention through recovery and harm reduction; community-based health care; housing insecurity; workforce pathways and paraprofessional (CHW, doula, etc.) workforce; oral health; and more.  If you are curious and want to explore possible matches, we are open to discussion and to matching you to a good project.  Projects may include leadership/organizational skills; qualitative skills, quantitative skills and data analysis.

Engaging Community Organizations and Community Members in Regional/Local NH Perinatal Care Coalitions

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Community/Population Health Department has been gathering statewide partners in perinatal health beginning with a NHPQC Summit launch on March 4, 2024. We have been working to start 13 regional coalitions throughout the state that have equitable representation from a variety of stakeholder groups with a focus on community organizations and local moms.  This internship will help us develop content for a May 1st NH Maternal Health Summit, and for a series of monthly 2025 community conversation webinars, including regional data sheets, resource guides, and workshop sessions.  We are open to unique ideas for a community engagement project that an intern would like to pursue as their primary deliverable, and would like the student to present the basics of some of their ideas during the interview process.

Qualitative Impact Assessment of Recovery-Informed Employment Supports

This project would involve qualitative interviews with participants who have engaged with a supported workforce navigation initiative to better understand the impact of the grant and the workstreams associated with its roles. We have a particular interest in generating and implementing an interview strategy to identify and analyze themes that can guide us as we continue to build out the project. Specific details of the internship will be discussed directly between site and intern.

Qualitative Outreach for 2025 Community Health Needs Assessment/Community Health Improvement Plan

Dartmouth-Hitchcock’s most recent Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) will be released in February 2025.  Once released, Dartmouth Hitchcock’s Community/Population Health team host individual, group, and community sessions to share CHNA data with community groups and clinical teams, and use qualitative discussions with these partners to help identify Community Health Improvement Plans that address key CHNA findings.  This internship could involve varied parts of this outreach/qualitative feedback process as negotiated between Dartmouth-Hitchcock leaders and learners.
