Overview

The Neurology Clinic provides specialized care to a unique and vulnerable population – from seizures, strokes, headaches, multiple sclerosis, dementia to ALS and everything in between. The neurology clinic is a fast-paced clinic, with over 30,000 visits annually. The neurology team is a growing specialty with highly sought-after providers, and care team members, to support patient needs. This care team consists of a professional community working to ensure patient care needs are met: Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants providers, nurses, social workers, medical assistants (MA), nursing assistants (LNA) and secretaries. Together this team supports the continued care needs of the neurology patient and their loved ones. The clinic is open from 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday, allowing for the team to have consistency with their schedule and maximize their time outside of work. This position does allow for flexible hours depending on personal and clinic needs.


The role of the LNA in the neurology clinic is vital to the care of our patients. The primary responsibility of the LNA is assisting patients with their provider visits – this means obtaining vital signs, reviewing medication, assisting the provider with procedures in clinic as well as keeping up with the general functions of the clinic such as cleaning, stocking supplies and quality and safety reviews. The ideal LNA candidate enjoys variety in their work while caring for a unique patient population.

Responsibilities

Performs various patient care activities and related nonprofessional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. Assists nursing service personnel with a variety of patient care duties. Possesses direct access to drug products and secure medication locations in order to manage the storage, handling and disposal of medications consistent with the Medication Storage and Handling Policy.

  1. Assists with routine patient care activities under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, including, but not be limited to, performing ADL’s, obtaining clinical data, including vital signs, heights and weights, utilizing universal precautions, collecting specimens or performing point of care testing and recording results in medical record, etc.
  2. Assists in maintaining a clean and safe work environment by keeping the hallways clear of excess equipment, emptying linen bags when full, etc.
  3. Assists visitors and answer telephones.
  4. Assists new co-workers in learning the work of the department.
  5. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate required.
  • Must demonstrate keyboarding skills and be familiar with computer use.
  • Previous hospital experience preferred.

Required Licensure/Certifications

  • Licensed Nursing Assistant in the State of NH required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate required.
