- Under minimum supervision take responsibility for the overall appearance and condition of the DHMC automotive vehicles and equipment. To maintain them in a condition that insures optimum operation and safety.
- Knowledgeable in diagnosing and repairing minor and major problems/breakdowns of heavy equipment, diesel engines, hydraulic systems, trucks, tractors, vans, and gasoline engines. Small engine equipment (lawn mowers, trimmers, chain saws, snow blowers, etc.)
- Perform preventive maintenance and Work Orders on Engineering vehicles and equipment. Coordinate scheduling with other Departments for maintenance and repair work to be done on their vehicles. Advise the supervisor on necessary maintenance to vehicles and equipment to insure safety requirements as well as to prevent large repair costs in the future.
- Design and fabricate welding modifications to standard vehicles and equipment to meet the needs of individual departments.
- New Hampshire State inspection and registration of vehicles annually. New Hampshire Department of Safety Certified Inspector.
- Purchase and maintain a proper inventory of parts and materials for a smooth operation.
- Provide information and recommendations to the supervisor for the proper planning and budgeting of capital equipment and evaluation of present fleet for replacement purposes.
- Provide assistance in selection and purchases of capital equipment and vehicles related to motor services operation.
- Responsible for adhering to and enforcing the specific codes and/or standards within the trade. Will abide by safety regulations associated with the trade, including the mandatory use of specific safety equipment and clothing.
Perform other duties as assigned or required. To include, but not limited to:
- weekend and off-hour coverage
- assistance to other trades during routine and emergency situations
- assignment to emergency assistance teams
- snow removal
- know and utilize B.B.P. procedures
