Overview

This position is a member of the Crisis Team, located in the DHMC-Lebanon Emergency Department:

 

The Psychiatric Emergency Services is an interdisciplinary team of mental health clinicians who consult with the emergency department regarding psychiatric and behavioral emergencies. Team members independently assess and manage children and adults presenting to the DHMC emergency department, urgent outpatient settings, and the crisis phone line. Additionally, this team reviews and accepts referrals for the inpatient psychiatric adult psychiatric units.

 

The Department of Psychiatry trains mental health clinicians in multiple disciplines, and opportunities exist for teaching and supervising trainees.

 

This position is scheduled as four 10-hour shifts per week, Monday-Friday.  No overnight or weekend responsibilities are included.  We are offering a $7000 sign-on/retention bonus for this position.  *The bonus is available for external hires only, and certain conditions apply.

This is a full-time, 40-hour/week benefitted position at our Lebanon, NH campus.

Responsibilities

  1. Provides complete psychosocial assessments of patients and families including but not limited to: abilities, aptitudes, interests and motivation, psychological aspects of physical illnesses, accidents, injuries or disabilities and substance abuse/dependencies.
  2. Evaluates, diagnoses and provides treatment for patients within areas such as anxiety disorders, mood disorders, substance use disorders, aggressive behavior, conduct disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, ADHD, eating disorders, and developmental disorders.
  3. Establishes achievable treatment goals with clients utilizing the most appropriate types of psychotherapy (i.e., behavior therapy, cognitive therapy, crisis intervention, family/couples, group, counseling and/or supportive cognitive therapy).
  4. Observe, describe, diagnose, evaluate, treat, consult, interpret and modify human behavior by applying psychological principles, methods, or procedures to patients who suffer from mental, behavioral, or emotional disorders or disabilities.
  5. Collaborates effectively with team members when appropriate.
  6. Documents appropriate objective, concise and pertinent clinical data in the medical record.
  7. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in social work from an accredited institution of higher education, including an internship meeting professional standards.
  • Must be able to demonstrate that he or she has provided psychological services, on an inpatient, outpatient or consultative basis in the past 12 months.

Required Licensure/Certifications

  • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) OR Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in New Hampshire.
