Overview

Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Clinics CT Technologists perform exams requiring advanced technical CT skills and understanding of complicated requests from specialized clinics. Technologists perform a wide variety of exams from Cardiac CT to 3D Interventional Procedures.  As the only Trauma One center in the state of NH, we perform many high acuity CT exams.  

 

In addition, we have a Stroke team, and technologists perform CT exams following strict protocol.  We also have a dedicated 3D Lab and 2 CTIR Suites, giving CT technologists the opportunity to subspecialize within the CT section.  Our CT staff perform at the highest potential of their license.  We have a strong dedicated team of technologists providing both high quality and high acuity patient care.

 

  • This is a full-time, 40-hour per week day shift position working from 8am-4:30pm. 

For our full-time positions (30 hours or more) we are offering a $7500 sign-on/retention bonus.  The bonus is for external hires only, and certain conditions apply.

Responsibilities

  1. Performs computerized axial tomography procedures. Reviews medical record for patient history and pertinent information. Reviews requisition with physician. Transfers patient to scan room; explains procedure and positions according to protocol. Administers contrast material, according to physician's request, by means of an existing IV line or by performing venipuncture and placing IV line; recognizes and responds to hypersensitivity or allergic reaction. Selects proper technique/protocol to obtain optimal data; performs scan. Evaluates images and send to PACS.
  2. Scans and reviews data on disk; performs multi-plane reconstruction. Performs archive function. Selects and photographs pertinent data and forwards to physician.
  3. Reviews studies for overall quality. Illuminates any problems noted which were not part of initial exam. Alerts Radiologist.
  4. Organizes daily work schedule and responds to emergencies as they occur.
  5. Performs daily calibration check on equipment; cleans and performs minor maintenance procedures. Logs problems and usage; alerts Team Leader as appropriate. Maintains wall units and cord. Orders and maintains supplies.
  6. Instructs medical staff and technologists in unit's operations, as necessary.
  7. Participates in continuing education. Trains with IV team prior to performing venous punctures.
  8. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology with 1 year of experience required.

Required Licensure/Certifications

  • Registered with the ARRT.
  • Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support.
  • Licensed by the Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy in the state of New Hampshire.
