Overview

The Recovery Coach engages with patients in the Addiction Treatment Program and encourages them to maintain sobriety, participate in recovery-oriented activities and develop a network of sober supports. They participate in group treatment activities and models effective group participation and recovery-oriented perspective for patients with substance use disorders. They help patients identify and access needed resources and recovery supports.

 

This position specifically supports and works with the Moms in Recovery Program at DHMC.  More about this program can be found here: Moms in Recovery

 

This is a full-time, 40-hour/week benefitted position.

Responsibilities

  1. Meets with co-facilitators of group therapy to plan presentation of material.
  2. Attends group therapy sessions and model appropriate group participation.
  3. Assists with co-facilitating selected aspects of group therapy sessions.
  4. Provides support and encouragement to group therapy participants.
  5. Engages one-on-one with patients to provide additional support between program sessions.
  6. Provides information and referrals regarding recovery resources in the community.
  7. Maintains patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  8. If certified, may provide supervision for others working toward a CRSW (certification as a Recovery Support Worker).
  9. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • Be a person who identifies as in recovery from a substance use disorder and be willing to share details of his or her personal recovery experience
  • Completed Training as Recovery Coach, including ethics training
  • Certification as a Recovery Support Worker (CRSW) required at time of hire or within 1 year of employment
  • Two years of continuous sobriety at time of hire.
  • Thorough understanding of stressors impacting parents in recovery from opiate use disorders
  • Able to maintain patient confidentiality
  • Basic computer literacy skills
